Did you know that the official definition of “climate change” is now “human caused global warming”?
Apparently, we will have to name the general cooling that has occurred over the past 10 years something else, since “climate change” has already been taken.
Climate change is being used to justify all kinds of collectivist and environmentalist mischief. Already, costly green building ordinances have been adopted. Napa County’s so far are voluntary, but that won’t last for long.
Eventually, very strict energy usage standards will be mandatory. There is also a risk of a carbon tax, which could add significantly to the cost of any new building, based on the energy consumed to construct it, as well as the energy it will consume while keeping you warm, lighting your way, cooking your food, heating your water, washing your clothes, keeping your groceries cool, etc.
The hysteria over global warming is likely to cause us all a lot of unnecessary grief, and property owners need to be vigilant.
